Biography
Katherine Farrow is Senior Clinical Services Lead within the Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub. Her background is in Children’s Speech and Language Therapy and she is also a Chartered Manager. Katherine qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1996 following the completion of her degree at City, University of London. She became interested in the field of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) and has had the opportunity of working within both primary and secondary enhanced provisions during her career, supporting children and young people with DLD and associated difficulties such as social communication, confidence and self-esteem. Katherine has worked for community providers within Mid and Southeast Essex Integrated Care System (MSE ICS), most recently for Provide CIC, working both as clinician and manager of the paediatric speech and language therapy team. In 2023, Katherine completed a Masters in Business Administration Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Essex. Her dissertation, a work-based project ‘Give a Child a Voice’, aimed to raise the profile of speech, language and communication needs in both children and adults. She has also recently been on secondment with MSE Allied Health Professions (AHP) Faculty, developing her understanding and knowledge of system-level working and promoting and developing initiatives to support the AHP workforce, in particular, the AHP preceptorship offer across MSE for new AHP practitioners and International Recruits. Katherine is also currently working as Clinical Lead for Babies, Children and Young People (BCYP) with MSE Southeast Essex Alliance, focussing on the BCYP Core20Plus5 agenda, and working closely with partners to reduce the impact of inequalities with a focus on prevention. She is also BCYP Steward for MSE ICS which promotes value-based healthcare. Katherine is a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
