Thesis

In loco parentis: The inner and outer worlds of Boarding school staff as revealed during psychodynamic counselling work.

There is extensive research on the effect of boarding school on the psyches of the children who attend, but hardly any on the effect on the staff who work “in loco parentis”. There is a particular gap in the psychodynamic literature about how the adults’ internal worlds impact their response to living and working with other people’s children.
