- Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Exploration of Culture, Race, and Racism
Biography
I am a PhD student in Psychoanalytic Studies within the Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex. My academic pursuits are primarily focused on psychoanalysis and critical theory, with a specific interest in the work of Frantz Fanon and its relation to psychoanalysis, particularly within the Lacanian framework. Additionally, my research extends into the Philosophy of Culture, Race, and Racism, where I am deeply engaged with the works of Jean-Paul Sartre and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. This interdisciplinary approach allows me to explore the complex intersections of psychoanalytic theory, cultural philosophy, and issues of race and racism.

A psychosocial conceptualisation of refugee experiences: Involuntary loss of home, torture and trauma
This thesis explores the psychosocial challenges faced by refugees, focusing on the loss of home, identity crises, and torture experiences. It discusses the significance of 'home' and the body's role in narratives of torture survivors, advocating for a broader socio-political understanding of these experiences. The work concludes by proposing a comprehensive psychosocial approach to refugee experiences, integrating individual and societal perspectives.
