Profile

Biography

I am an HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist currently undertaking a part-time PhD, using a Participatory Action Research approach to explore more accessible and inclusive ways of evaluating disabled people's participation in sport and physical activity. I am also a part-time Lecturer in the School of Occupational Therapy, working 1.5 days per week. I am particularly interested in occupational in/justice and how Occupational Therapists can work with marginalised groups to address inequalities in access to occupations, particularly through collaborative research approaches. I am also Secretary for the Eastern Region Royal College of Occupational Therapists. Before coming to Essex to complete the MSc Occupational Therapy (pre-registration), I worked for a number of years in the third sector, for Parkinson's UK, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
