Biography

Jayne Hannah is a lecturer in nursing at the University of Essex. Her specialist interests include compassionate quality patient care and psychological therapies. She has been registered as a mental health nurse for over 30 years. Her clinical experience includes working at Runwell Hospital in the mid 1990’s before moving to the Southend Community Mental Health Team in 1999, where for fifteen years, she worked as a Community Mental Health Nurse and a Clinical Lead. During 2019/2020 she also worked as a prison nurse in HMP & YOI Chelmsford. She gained a PGCE in 2003 and has substantial experience in higher education. In 2016 she moved to HEE’s Quality & Commissioning team where she worked as a Clinical Learning Environment Lead and Quality Manager to implement Health Education England’s Quality Strategy and Framework. Just prior to her appointment with the University of Essex she worked pan North East London representing primary and social care as part of the North East London Apprentice Nursing Associate Programme. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
