Biography
Dr Anna Hardiman-McCartney is aSenior Lecturer in the School of Law at the University of Essex. Anna obtained a BA in Jurisprudence from Hertford College, Oxfordin 2003 and an LLM from the University of Cambridge in 2004. She was awarded a PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2009. Her PhD thesisexamines the role of Substantive Review in English Administrative Law. During her postgraduate studies at Cambridge, Anna was tutor in Constitutional Law and Administrative Law. She joined the School of Law as a Lecturer in 2007 and was appointed Senior Lecturer in 2016. She currently teaches on the compulsory undergraduate modules Foundations ofPublic Law and Current Issues in Public Law, as well as optional modules on the Protection of Human Rights in the UK and Current Issues in UK Human Rights Law. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Anna's research interests are in the fields of Administrative Law (especially Substantive Review) and UK Human Rights. She is assistant editor of de Smith's Judicial Review of Administrative Action.
