Christina Johnson

Biography

I joined the department of Psychoanalytic and Psychosocial Studies in 2023 as a part-time PhD student. I have a private psychodynamic psychotherapy practice, working with a cross-section of issues, and have also worked in agency and forensic settings. In addition, I work in Human Resources within the professional services. Prior to this role I had my own business as an HR consultant, working with corporate clients particularly around culture and leadership development, both designing and delivering development programmes, as well as offering group and 1:1 executive coaching, and running investigations for complex issues such as whistle-blowing claims, disciplinaries and grievances. My primary research interest is on the ways in which the female body is used as a container for certain types of social and cultural phantasy, as holders of emotion (for example sorrow), and a site of moral arbitration (through representations of violence). In particular, I'm interested in the way these phantasies are internalised by women as a form of misogynistic self-representation of the female/feminine. I would welcome the opportunity to connect with any other researchers to exchange ideas and share thoughts on psychoanalytic research, and hear about your projects.
