Profile

Biography

Ben Jones obtained a BSc degree in sport and exercise science (DeMontfort University, UK, 2005) and an MS degree in sport health sciences (Life, USA, 2011). Ben completed his PhD in sport and exercise science at the University of Essex in 2015, he has published papers on oxygen transport and muscle damage and recovery. His current research projects include: developing noninvasive optical tools to measure oxygen utilization and blood flow in sports science; and using resistance training in special populations. Current Research Project: Concussion Diagnosis and Return to play and Learn in Contact and Combat Sports. Ben is currently supervising MSc and PhD students in the following areas: Muscle damage, exercise and recovery Resistance training in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Training programs to enhance muscle oxygen delivery and utilisation Nutritional supplementation use in hypertension Ben is also carrying out research in the areas of: Resistance training for mental health Bio-banding and competitive engineering in youth sport
