Commutative Algebra

Commutative Algebra is the study of commutative rings and modules over such rings. It provides a generalization of the integers and polynomials. A fundamental example would be the polynomials over a field such as C[x1, x2, ..., xn] over complex numbers. Commutative Algebra has also strong ties with wide range of mathematical disciplines such as Algebraic Geometry, Homological Algebra, Combinatorics, Representation Theory.
