Biography
In my role as a Careers Consultant at The University of Essex I support both Students and Graduates to understand their unique set of employability skills and to support them with their next steps after university life. I also deliver Career Development Learning to students within the faculty of Social Sciences, providing them with the tools and techniques to become more self aware and to make career and employability decisions that increase their confidence and develop their skillset. My work also includes working closely with the departments of Economics, Languages and Linguistics and PPS to find ways to bring up to date careers information to students helping to improve their career prospects. Part of my role is delivering 1:1 Careers Guidance appointments, providing a confidential space for students and graduates to explore their career options and to offer advice and guidance on topics such as further study and training, job searching and securing opportunities and increasing professional networks. Prior to working at Essex I was supporting individuals in local communities to overcome barriers and challenges in finding and securing employment, educational and training opportunities which I found incredibly rewarding. I have also had the opportunity to work in some wonderful and exciting countries across Asia and Europe- providing me with valuable international insights.
