Biography

My research focuses on haem-containing enzymes known as peroxygenases, which catalyze the oxidative conversion of fatty acids. These enzymes have promising applications in biotechnology, particularly for sustainable biofuel production, as they can transform fatty acids into alkenes under mild conditions. My research explores the structure-function relationships of these enzymes using a combination of biochemical and structural techniques, including wild-type and mutant enzyme variants. The goal is to deepen our understanding of their mechanisms and biocatalytic potential, paving the way for their future use in industrial applications.
