Profile

Biography

I am a Lecturer of Psychoanalytic Studies and the Director of Education in the Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies at Essex. I joined the Department in 2022, bringing with me extensive teaching experience gained in various countries and across diverse age groups. Prior to this, I served as a Senior Research Officer on a project that explored the impact of talking therapies on the recognition of mental health as a pressing societal issue. This recognition led to significant state investment in psychotherapies in Britain over the past two decades and the emergence of new concepts of selfhood. The project, titled 'The practice, politics, and provision of the talking therapies in England since the 1960s,' was led by Professor Sasha Roseneil. My primary academic interests lie in the connections between analytical psychology and physics, the historical and scientific contexts surrounding Jungian theories, theories related to the perception of time, the influence of creativity and intuition in scientific breakthroughs, the role of talking therapies in driving societal change, and the intricate relationship between mind and body. Additionally, I am intrigued by research in artificial intelligence and theories of the mind, as well as investigations into virtual realities and the concept of the Self. I welcome proposals for PhDs on topics related to my research interests: • Analytical Psychology and Physics • Historical and Scientific Contexts of Jungian Theories • The Mind-Matter Connection • Perception of Time • Creativity and Intuition • Artificial Intelligence and Theories of Mind • Virtual Realities and the Self
