Biography
Zoe Monk is Lecturer (ASE) and Director of Employability of the Edge Hotel School at the University of Essex. Within her roles Zoe oversees the student experience offered to Edge Hotel School students through their placement rotations Edge’s four-star country house hotel, Wivenhoe House. Zoe joined Edge in October 2021 as Industry Engagement Officer, having been in the Universities central HR team since 2019. With over 13 years of industry experience (including 8 years of event focused HR experience), Zoe has worked within several operational and management roles prior to her teaching career predominantly focusing on the luxury weddings and events sector within the UK and Europe. During her time in industry Zoe has coordinated and managed events for Disney, NFL, Saatchi and Saatchi London and foreign dignitaries. She holds a BA (hons) in Event Management and Human Recourse Management and is currently studying for a MSc in Human Resource Management and a PG Cert in Higher Education Practice (PG CHEP). Zoe’s research interests focus on continual personal development in the hospitality sector, graduate employability, wedding, and event venue management. Additionally, she is interested in EDI across the hospitality and events sector.
