Biography
I am currently the Study Support Manager in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science. I have been a member of the School community since 2013 starting with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics, followed by a Masters by Dissertation with a focus on the movement ecology of housed dairy cows. I have recently undertaken a PhD in Mathematics Education with a focus on the role that post-16 mathematics qualifications have on students' transition to university study. I have a strong interest in mathematics teaching and support which has been led by several teaching positions. For example, I have previously worked within both the Essex Pathways department and the University of Essex International College teaching mathematics and statistics content at Foundation and pre-Masters level. I have also worked as an associate for the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme which engages with students in schools and colleges in order to increase mathematics participation. In 2021, I worked as a fixed-term lecturer within the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science co-teaching Real Analysis and Numerical Methods. My current role as Study Support Manager means that I support the education provisions which are available to students within the School.
