Profile

Biography

Dr Katie Peterson is a Clinical Psychologist and Research Fellow in the Institute of Public Health and Wellbeing. She works in collaboration with the Essex County Council drug and alcohol commission team to support research into psychosocial interventions for drug and alcohol use and to build links between academia and third-sector drug treatment services to enhance research capacity within the system. She collaborates with colleagues at IPHW and the School of Law to facilitate evidence- and human rights-based approaches to her work. Katie completed Clinical Psychology training at the University of East Anglia in 2024 where her thesis explored reliability of online, remote neuropsychological assessment paradigms. Prior to Clinical Psychology training, Katie completed a PhD and postdoctoral research positions at the University of Cambridge investigating cognitive and language changes caused by neurodegenerative conditions. She worked on the development of the Mini Linguistic State Examination, a novel screening tool to assess and monitor progressive aphasia.
