Biography
Alexander holds a BA degree in Political Science and Public Law from the University of Mannheim (Germany) and a MA degree in Security and Terrorism from the University of Kent (UK). He started his studies in Essex in 2018 and is now a part-time PhD Candidate in Government at the University of Essex. His dissertation focuses on the application of social network analysis in policing terrorist cells. Beside his PhD, he is a lecturer in Security Studies at the Berlin School of Economics and Law since 2019. His main research interests are terrorism, political violence, policing and social network analysis. Fight the dark side: Studying law enforcement interventions against terrorist cells with Social Network Analysis
Terrorism is one of the major threats for the security of the European Union and the world. Understanding the network structure of terrorist cells and the identification of key actors is crucial for effective counterterrorism by law enforcement agencies.
