Biography

Nicole first studied History as an undergraduate at the State University of New York at Oswego in the US. She went on to do a masters in Linguistics at the University of Essex and continued at the University to obtain her PhD on family interaction and the invocation of deontic rights in the initiation of interaction in domestic space. Her research interests are in Conversation Analysis and she is currently working on a corpus of video-recorded family summonses and arguments. She is a member of the International Society for Conversation Analysis and has presented some of her doctoral research findings at conferences within the UK.
