Biography
2013 present - Laboratory technician in the metalloprotein research group of Prof Chris Cooper and Dr Brandon Reeder. Work in the lab centres on globin research, currently developing a haemoglobin-based oxygen carrier. Other proteins used include Hells Gate haemoglobin, cytoglobin and neuroglobin. 2007 - 2013 PhD in Biochemistry at University of Essex on the role of haemoglobin binding to cell membranes in cell damage in the body and blood storage. 1983 2005 chemistry teacher in secondary schools, including the role of Head of Department. Publications The mechanism of formation, structure and physiological relevance of covalent haemoglobin attachment to the erythrocyte membrane.
