Jo Rogers

Biography

Jo has dedicated over 20 years to Essex, holding various roles that have shaped their expertise in philanthropy, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management. Currently serving as the Director of Advancement, Jo is responsible for guiding the Universitys Advancement colleagues to support its philanthropic goals and foster strong, strategic partnerships with stakeholders. Working closely with the Vice Chancellor and as part of the Communications and External Relations senior management team, she oversees all aspects of Advancement, including the Philanthropy, Alumni Relations, and Stakeholder Engagement & Events teams. Their work involves setting strategic fundraising goals, managing high-level donor relationships, and ensuring compliance with the Fundraising Regulator and GDPR. Under their direction, the Advancement team not only raises the Universitys profile but also generates crucial funds to support students and other priority areas, consistently meeting ambitious income targets. Through close collaboration with both academic departments and Professional Services, Jo fosters a culture of philanthropy across the University, focusing on efficient processes, sustainable practices, and high standards of service.
