Biography

I graduated from the University of East Anglia in 2021 with an MSci Degree in Natural Sciences, during my Masters research project, I investigated electron transfer kinetics within proteins from electroactive bacteria. My current research aims to utilise time-resolved X-ray crystallography to visualise various haem-containing enzymes in action. Haem is an iron-containing compound that is present in many proteins thought all domains of life. It is commonly found in enzymes, where the iron redox chemistry allows for the catalysis of reactions that are essential for life; many haem-containing enzymes also have potential use in biotechnology. Through my research, it is hoped that a greater mechanistic understanding of these enzymes can be gained.
