Working with Sponsors at Essex

At Essex we recognise the value and importance of building strong relations with sponsorship bodies who support students financially to study at Essex.

We are proud to work with international and national Government Ministries and Embassies, non-profit Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and public and private institutions, foundations, and organisations. As one the UK’s most international universities with a student body representing over 140 nationalities, we have developed an understanding of the particular challenges that international sponsors and students face. We are committed to work together with sponsors to continuously enhance our services for them and their students.

Services for Sponsors

Our dedicated Sponsors Officer supports sponsors throughout the academic year by liaising between them and the University of Essex. The services provided are:

  • assistance with enquiries about:
    • current sponsored foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate students and applicants,
    • the University and its programmes,
    • bespoke agreements
  • assistance with finding workable solutions to any issues that might arise
  • organisation of visits to the University of Essex to meet with sponsored students and relevant departmental and central Essex staff
  • Invitation of sponsors to the graduation ceremonies of their students
  • For any enquiries and requests please contact the Sponsors Officer through the dedicated sponsor email at: sponsorsrelations@essex.ac.uk

    Academic Transcripts and Degree Certificates

All undergraduate students who registered as a student for the first time ON or AFTER September 2014 receive a degree certificate at Graduation. Their academic transcript is provided through the Higher Education Achievement Record (HEAR) and is accessed online. Sponsored undergraduate students can share their HEAR by digitally unlocking it for their sponsors.

Undergraduate students who registered as a student for the first time BEFORE September 2014 and Postgraduate taught students receive a degree certificate and academic transcript. Postgraduate research students receive a degree certificate.

Please note that certificates and transcripts will not be available until the individual student’s results have been considered by a Board of Examiners and published. Results are published on the web and students will receive an email to say when they are ready. Students finishing in June can collect their degree certificates on the day of their Graduation which customarily takes place in July. Our Graduation Office will arrange an alternative date for collection or delivery if students finish their studies at any other time or do not attend their Graduation.

    Student Progress Reporting

We also have a dedicated team that provides academic progress reports at the start of spring term and after the end of summer term each academic year.

If you are a sponsor who requires academic progress reports about your sponsored foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate students please send your request to the student progress reporting email at: embassyreporting@essex.ac.uk

    Developing Relations with New Sponsors

If you do not currently work with the University of Essex, but would like to find out more about sending students or employees to our University to study one of our Undergraduate courses, Masters courses or Postgraduate Research courses, please contact us at sponsorsrelations@essex.ac.uk

We will be delighted to arrange a meeting to discuss possibilities for collaboration and sponsorship requirements. If of interest, we can also arrange a visit to one of our UK campuses.
