Relaunching the Committee Management Network

We are relaunching the Committee Management Network (CMN) this term with an introductory event on Thursday 28 September, and you are invited. We will cover new skills, requirements, and innovations around the management of committees.

After a hiatus imposed by COVID-19, the CMN are conscious of the changes to ways of working, new staff, and the need for us to have a community from which we can draw knowledge.

This is a learning and development opportunity that allows seasoned committee managers/officers to share their knowledge, skills, and expertise.

The event will start with an introduction to the University’s institutional context, strategic direction, and decision-making arrangements, delivered by Bryn Morris, Registrar and Secretary.

Introduction to the Committee Management Network

The CMN is an informal termly meeting of those who are either currently working on committees and/or groups, and those who wish to acquire the following skills:

1. minute taking
2. preparing agendas
3. paper organisation
4. paperless operations
5. using innovative tools and techniques
6. best practice standards

The welcome event will be held on 28 September 2023, from 9.45am until midday, at the Colchester Campus. For further details, and to sign up for the event, please visit HR Organiser.

Committee Portal: useful tools, templates, guidance, and information

All members of staff can access our Committee Portal on SharePoint which provides a host of information, tools, and templates to support committee secretaries and those administering University meetings.

Information Champions Network

When you sign up to CMN events, you will automatically be subscribed to the Information Champions Network email distribution group, providing important updates in relation to information assurance. More information can be found on the Information Champions webpage.
