We can't wait to celebrate with you

We're excited to announce confirmed dates for our 2025 Graduations.

All Graduations in 2025 will be held at our Colchester Campus in Essex, UK.

All students who may be eligible to attend a ceremony at will be contacted via e-mail with more information, including how to book their place at Graduation.

If you are unsure which graduation you may be eligible to attend or have any questions, please contact the Graduation and Awards Team at graduation@essex.ac.uk or by calling 01206 872174


To attend Graduation, it is essential that you pre-book your place before the booking deadline published for each Graduation. Should you wish to bring guests, you must purchase tickets for them via the Graduation Booking System when it opens.

 

Upcoming Graduations

Spring Graduation 2025 (Colchester, UK)

Monday 7 April – Friday 11 April 2025

Awards received between Friday 5 July 2024 and Thursday 20 March 2025 will be eligible for Spring Graduation, although students must still meet the full eligibility criteria.

All eligible students have been contacted now via email. Students should contact the Graduation and Awards Office (graduation@essex.ac.uk) if they have not received an email but are expecting to attend Spring Graduation 2025. Booking for Spring Graduation 2025 is essential.

Phase 1 of booking has now closed for Spring Graduation. 
The Booking System will re-open for Phase 2 of booking where, should any remaining guest tickets be available for a ceremony, these will be released for students to purchase on a first come, first served basis. 

Booking for Phase 2 will open as follows:

  • Faculty of Science and Health: Monday 27 January 2025 at 10am
  • Faculty of Social Sciences: Tuesday 28 January 2025 at 10am
  • Faculty of Arts and Humanities: Wednesday 29 January 2025 at 10am

A full schedule of ceremonies across the week can be found below and is also available here as a PDF.

Times of ceremonies and whether additional guest tickets will be released for each ceremony will be confirmed to students via email by Friday 24 January 2024.

Day 1 - Monday 7 April 2025 

Faculty of Science and Health:

  • School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering
  • School of Health and Social Care (see programme list)

Times for each ceremony will be confirmed after the first phase of booking.

Day 2 - Tuesday 8 April 2025

Faculty of Science and Health:

  • School of Health and Social Care (see programme list)
  • School of Statistics, Mathematics and Actuarial Science

Times for each ceremony will be confirmed after the first phase of booking.

Day 3 - Wednesday 9 April 2025

Faculty of Science and Health:

  • School of Life Sciences
  • School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences

Faculty of Social Sciences:

  • Department of Languages and Linguistics
  • Department of Sociology and Criminology
  • Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies
  • Department of Economic and Institute of Social and Economic Research
  • Department of Government

Times for each ceremony will be confirmed after the first phase of booking.

Day 4 - Thursday 10 April 2025

University of Essex Online (Kaplan Open Learning)

Faculty of Social Sciences:

  • Essex Business School
  • PG CHEP

Other partner institutions, subject to approval by exception.

Times for each ceremony will be confirmed after the first phase of booking.

Day 5 - Friday 11 April 2025

Faculty of Arts and Humanities:

  • Essex Law School and Human Rights Centre
  • East 15 Acting School
  • Edge Hotel School
  • Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies
  • School of Philosophical, Historical, and Interdisciplinary Studies

Faculty of Science and Health:

  • Department of Psychology

Times for each ceremony will be confirmed after the first phase of booking.

Summer Graduation 2025 (Colchester, UK)

Monday 14 July – Friday 18 July 2025

Awards received between Friday 21 March 2025 and Thursday 3 July 2025 will be eligible for Summer Graduation, although students must still meet the full eligibility criteria.

Booking for Summer Graduation 2025 is essential. When booking for Summer Graduation opens, students wishing to attend  must confirm their space through the Booking System by 4pm Friday 4 April 2025 to secure their place and will also be able to purchase up to 2 guest tickets. Graduate and guest tickets cannot be guaranteed after this deadline.

Booking will open for Summer Graduation 2025 as follows:

  • Faculty of Social Sciences: Wednesday 5 February 2025
  • Faculty of Arts and Humanities: Thursday 6 February 2025
  • Faculty of Science and Health: Friday 7 February 2025

The booking system will close on Friday 4 April, but will then re-open at the end of April for a second phase of booking where any remaining guest tickets will be released and sold on a first come, first served basis.

Tuesday 15 July

Faculty of Social Sciences:

  • Essex Business School
  • Department of Government
  • Department of Languages and Linguistics
  • Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies
  • Department of Sociology and Criminology

Booking will open for these Ceremonies on Wednesday 5 February 2025 at 10am.
The time for each ceremony will be confirmed by Friday 18 April 2025.

Wednesday 16 July

Faculty of Social Sciences:

  • Department of Economics and Institute of Social and Economic Research

Booking will open for these departments on Wednesday 5 February 2025 at 10am.

Faculty of Arts and Humanities:

  • Edge Hotel School
  • Essex Law School and Human Rights Centre
  • Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies
  • PG CHEP
  • School of Philosophical, Historical and Interdisciplinary Studies

Booking will open for these ceremonies on Thursday 6 February 2025 at 10am.


Thursday 17 July
