Vice-Chancellor Professor Anthony Forster said: “I am delighted that our dual commitment to excellence in education and research continues to be recognised in national rankings.
“This latest success follows Essex being ranked 22nd in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide and achieving the highest rating of gold in the Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework.
“In the last five years we’ve invested in new teaching and research facilities, student accommodation and sport facilities. Student numbers have grown significantly and we’ve created almost 200 new jobs for academic staff to support this growth.”
Essex is in the top 25 for research quality in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide and top 15 in England for overall student satisfaction (NSS 2017, mainstream universities).
We have recently announced an expansion in our academic staff of 44 new posts following increased interest from applicants in studying at Essex.
