BBC’s Political Editor in Q and A with Essex staff and students

The BBC’s Political Editor, Laura Kuenssberg, joined a panel of leading political scientists for an Essex event exploring Brexit and beyond.

The event, Brexit and British Politics – What now?, was held at our Colchester campus and featured analysis from Professors Paul Whiteley, John Bartle, Rob Johns and Dr Tom Quinn from our Department of Government, alongside Professor Sara Hobolt from the London School of Economics.

Laura Kuenssberg joined the event via a live link from Westminster. 

Speaking about the event, Executive Dean of the Social Sciences, Professor Moya Lloyd said: “The Faculty of Social Sciences at Essex is very proud to host the highest-rated politics department in the UK.

“To be able to bring the expertise of four of our leading political scientists together in one event for our students, alongside Laura Kuenssberg and Professor Sara Hobolt, at a time when the British political scene is facing extraordinary and unprecedented challenges, felt extremely apt.”

The event was built around the findings of the definitive new book on the 2017 general election, None past the post: Britain at the Polls, 2017, and expanded to reflect the issues raised by the Brexit negotiations.
