Hannah Eadie was attracted to Edge Hotel School because of the opportunities to work in Wivenhoe House Hotel and she’s already putting her experience into practice in a full-time role at Ipswich Town Football Club.

Hannah, from Colchester, is graduating with a BA Events Management. Despite still finishing her dissertation, in June, she joined the venue team at Ipswich, shortly after the team won promotion to the Premier League.

Hannah is now planning various events for the club and selling their event space from small scale conferences to large scale functions, private parties, product launches, showrounds and other exciting projects.

Despite not previously considering working at a sporting venue, she knew it was a good opportunity when she saw the job advertised. And it’s not disappointed.

“After attending the interview, I knew this role was going to be an excellent opportunity to learn new skills within the events industry. I didn’t expect to start work while still finishing my dissertation but I feel so lucky to have been able to do so,” Hannah said.

Hannah chose events management at Edge Hotel School because she was attracted to the “exciting” industry and keen to work alongside her studies. She says the most memorable thing about her course was the annual student conference.

“It was a great experience due to meeting so many industry professionals and building new connections,” she said.

It also helped her secure a sales and marketing internship, in the summer before her final year, at a luxury five-star Hilton hotel in London which she says was an “invaluable experience.”

She has nothing but praise for the Edge Hotel School staff who have helped her succeed, singling out her tutor and dissertation supervisor Dimitri Lera for his “constant support and motivation,” and lecturer Zoe Monk who “opened up so many opportunities for students like myself to work within industry and gain valuable experience.”

Speaking about how her education at Edge has helped her, she added: “It gave me knowledge in all aspects of the events industry, which I am able to demonstrate within the workplace, in areas such as financial and operational planning.”
