How to report repairs and faults in your accommodation:

If you have a repair emergency out of hours then phone the Security and Safety Centre 01206 872125. Where appropriate, we will call a duty engineer to rectify the problem.

Repair times

Most repairs are carried out by staff from the Estates Management Section and you don't need to be there if they need access to your room. For non-urgent repairs, maintenance staff won't normally come into residences until after 9am.

The Pastures

Our Uliving portal is our resident and property management portal that gives you access to information about living in our Halls and the community within The Pastures Halls of Residence.  From here you can:

Report maintenance issues e.g. leaking taps, to the facilities team
Complete your room and kitchen inventories
Download your site map and Guide to Living in Halls
Get notified when you have post or parcels to collect from Reception

Register now so you can start using the portal straight away.  All you need to create your user account for the portal is your University email address.

Southend Campus

Report all repairs directly to the 24-hour reception desk at University Square by phoning 01702 328400 or emailing scaccom@essex.ac.uk.

Repair times and additional costs

  • For information on agreed terms relating to privacy and access, please read our Terms and Conditions of Residence.
  • You must pay us for any amounts due for extra cleaning or high utility consumption, within 14 days of us notifying you of the charge.
