Graduation programmes
All graduating students and guests will be given a ceremony programme when they enter the Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall. There is no charge for this.
Your name will appear in some of our Graduation Souvenirs. If you don’t want your name to appear in these please contact the Graduation Office at the time of booking.
Photographs
Tempest Photographers will be at the University during Graduation to take professional photographs of you and your guests. You do not need to book or place an order in advance.
When and where you have your photo taken
We recommend you have your photograph taken before the ceremony and reception, however, the photographers are available throughout the day at a time that is convenient to you.
On the day you receive a proof of the photographs. You can then choose what to order immediately, or place an order after Graduation using the Tempest Photography website or by post. The location of our photography studios will be highlighted on the Graduation map provided.

Photos with the Chancellor
A photograph is taken of you during the ceremony when you are presented to the Chancellor or their representative and collecting your presentational Graduation scroll. This is available to purchase shortly after your ceremony to either download or order a physical print from Tempest’s website.

A photograph is taken of you during the ceremony when you are presented to the Chancellor or their representative and collecting your presentational Graduation scroll. This is available to purchase shortly after your ceremony to either download or order a physical print from Tempest’s website.
Family and friends are permitted to take photographs from their seats during the ceremony, but no video recording equipment is permitted. You will be asked by a Steward to turn off your recording equipment if this is taken into the ceremony. The ceremonies are professionally filmed and a Graduation USB will be available to purchase following the ceremony.
Graduation USB
Every ceremony is professionally recorded by University of Essex Media Centre. USB sticks of your ceremony will be available to purchase on the day without the need to order, or if you prefer you can pre-order copies online via the website to collect on the day.
Watch Again service
For a limited period of time following the Graduation ceremonies each year, it will be possible to watch the ceremonies online.
Souvenirs
Campus clothing
YOUR NAME HERE hoodies, t-shirts, rugby shirts and tea towels will be available to buy as a unique souvenir of your day. This will show your name alongside your fellow graduates.
You can order these in advance and pick up on the day from the Campus Clothing stall on the squares or you can order on the day for delivery after Graduation. For an extra cost, you can have your hoodie. t-shirt or rugby shirt personalised with your name on the sleeve or your initials on the front. All garments are fair trade and premium quality. Any commission from the sales of souvenirs is reinvested back into the University and the Students' Union
