Whilst you’re intermitting you are still a student at the University of Essex and can continue to access information, support and signposting.
Accessibility and Wellbeing Advisers: Our named Advisers continue to be available to support students during intermission, with a focus on ensuring the student accesses any necessary external, statutory, and other support services to aide their physical, mental health and wellbeing during this time. If you are not already allocated a named Wellbeing Adviser, you may be allocated a caseworker before your return to study. To get in touch please email include@essex.ac.uk
Accommodation: Intermitting students who live in University Campus Accommodation and will need to speak with the Accommodation Essex via the Student Services Hub, for support and guidance. Additional support and advice is available through Student Union Advice and SU Homes (SU Advice).
Advice for International students: If you are an intermitting international student, you will need to seek advice about your visa from the International Services Team. Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Team continues to offer support to international students, and can use remote meeting methods (such as Zoom calls) to continue contact whilst outside of the UK.

Counselling: Our student counselling service is open to all registered students, including those who are intermitting on medical grounds. To access counselling, complete this form. More information about the counselling service is available on our webpage.
SilverCloud: An online cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) resource offering a range of programmes on mental health, wellbeing, and long-term conditions. Students have the option of requesting a supporter from the Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity (SWIS) team who can guide and encourage them through the programmes.
Togetherall: a safe, online peer-to-peer mental health community that empowers individuals to anonymously seek and provide support 24/7. To sign up, go to the Togetherall website and use your student email address to register as a member of a university or college.
