The guidance on the following pages provides everything you need to know about the postgraduate research examination process at Essex. We’ve also included a timeline for when the content of each page should be considered.
The University of Essex is committed to providing an inclusive educational learning environment for all students. If a PGR student identifies any additional support needs associated with the PGR examination process, and particularly the viva, due to their disability, specific learning differences, mental health condition, long-term medical condition (or any other condition that might be eligible for additional support), they should discuss this with their supervisor and their SWIS case worker (where applicable). They should also make contact with the PGRE Team so that additional support and potential reasonable adjustments can be discussed and implemented to assist the examination process. A reasonable adjustment in this case is a change (or changes) to the viva examination arrangements that removes or reduces a disadvantage related to a disability, mental health condition, or long-term health condition.
