Part-time students

Not all part-time students are eligible. Please read the eligibility criteria and contact your Student Services Hub if you have questions about your eligibility.

Apply online

If you are a full-time student, registered on a course of at least 14 weeks duration, you can apply online. Follow the instructions and from the selection of available establishments, select:

  • 'University of Essex' if you are based at the Colchester or Southend Campus
  • 'East 15 Acting School' if you are based at the Loughton Campus

To make the application you will need:

  • your University registration number
  • your course to and from dates
  • a digital photograph
  • a debit or credit card to pay the £20 application fee.

You can only apply online. If you have any other questions, please contact your Student Services Hub.

Processing your application

Your application details will be checked by your Student Services Hub and, if you are eligible, authorised accordingly.

If you are not eligible, your application will be rejected and you will be contacted by TFL. The application fee is non-refundable. Please note that if the term-time address you have given the University is not in London, your application will be rejected.

TFL will send your Oyster Card directly to you, by post, usually within five days.
