Within the Life Sciences Pathway you'll engage with four modules that equip you with a robust foundation in the Life Sciences and will prepare you for your choice of three programmes in our School of Life Sciences.

These four modules include:

  • Introduction to Biology: this module will further your understanding of biology, encompassing plant biology, animal biology, and microbiology. 
  • Chemistry for Biology, which will deepen your knowledge of chemistry, essential for advanced studies in Life Sciences. 
  • Mathematics and Statistics for Life Sciences: this module hones your mathematical and statistical skills, which is vital for all Life Sciences disciplines.

Additionally, you study the Research and Academic Development Skills module. You will learn to navigate academic sources effectively and communicate proficiently within the Life Sciences study environment. The Life Sciences Pathway aims to help you develop a diverse skill set crucial for success. You will work on your communication skills, critical thinking, proficiency in IT tools including specialist software, practical laboratory skills tailored to the Life Sciences, data analysis, presentation of experimental findings, problem-solving abilities, effective time management, and confident reflective practice.

Together these modules prepare you to tackle real-world issues and pave the way for various degree programmes in the Life Sciences.
