Applying for accommodation

New student accommodation applications for 2024-2025 are now open. 

If you have chosen us as your firm or insurance choice you can apply. As long as you apply by Friday 13 September, you are guaranteed accommodation for your first year.

Other courses

UEIC progressing to UoE undergraduate and postgraduate courses

For all UEIC students that are progressing onto either an undergraduate or postgraduate course at Essex for the 2024-2025 academic year, please complete the online application via your portal.

Applications will open on 9 January at 10am and you will be able to apply, as soon as your University of Essex record has been created.

Undergraduate applicants will be able to choose and reserve their room when they apply online, using our new Book Now process.

Postgraduate applicants should only apply for areas they are willing to accept. We regret that Book Now is not as yet available to postgraduate students.

Make sure you read the application guide (.pdf) before making an application for accommodation.

You need to:

  1. Create your myEssex applicant portal (see timescales below)
  2. Login to the portal
  3. Go to the Living section of the portal, where you will find the link to the online accommodation form under the Life and Leisure heading.
Timescales

It can take up to 24 to 48 hours for the relevant data to be imported into the accommodation application system from the point of creation, so set up your portal as soon as you can.

First team Sports Scholar Students

If you are a First Team Sports Scholar student and want to apply for accommodation, please contact the Sports Centre directly.

Essex Abroad

Incoming study abroad students should contact Essex Abroad directly, regarding applying for accommodation. 

South Towers Enhanced Single Bedroom
Car parking for residents

Car parking permits are available for a limited number of accommodation areas on the Colchester Campus. Current availability is for those choosing to live in either South Courts or The Meadows. The permits are offered on a first-come-served basis and spaces are limited. The permit will be charged at a reduced rate of £25.00 per term. Please contact us for more details.

Accommodation for insurance students

We know we're not your first choice, but Essex still have your back. You can apply for accommodation if we are your insurance choice, offering you peace of mind with guaranteed accommodation if you apply before 13 September 2024. Applications are open now, if you haven't received an email inviting you to apply please reach out to admit@essex.ac.uk.

Not only do we offer guaranteed accommodation to first year students, we support students throughout their time at Essex with on campus accommodation available during your whole degree.

 

 

If you have a debt to the University

Students who have a debt to the university will not be made an offer of accommodation until the debt is cleared. You will be notified if this is the case and be given an opportunity to make payment to clear this debt.

If this is not received then we may not be able to proceed with your application.

Our terms and conditions give details of the terms of your tenancy agreement. By accepting a room when it is offered you are accepting these terms and conditions and you will be entering into a legally binding contract.
