Find a space to study

Looking for a place to practice or perform? Need to find a space for quiet reading and research? Southend has all that you need, from an innovative library and learning hub to mock medical wards and rehearsal spaces all at your finger tips.

Study facilities

The Forum is a modern library and learning hub across two floors, with study, meeting and relaxation spaces, as well as IT resources and free computer and wifi access. With a gallery, cafe and lecture theatre, the Forum also provides a dynamic social space for both student and local community activities.

Want to study, research, grab a coffee and meet up with friends all under one roof?  You're in the right place.  What's more, the Forum has an entire floor dedicated to Essex students and is located in the heart of the Southend Campus.

Department Facilities

Lectures are held in our Gateway building which has modern teaching spaces with panoramic sea views.

We have mock hospital wards and a dental skills lab with the latest simulation 'phantom heads' for our Oral Health students to practice on. Realistic simulation is a critical component of health and social studies at Essex and prepares you to step straight into practice after graduation.

Performance facilities

As an East 15 student, you have access to the fabulous Clifftown Theatre and Studios, a converted former church in Southend's conservation area. It also houses a variety of spaces for rehearsals, technical and practical work and performances. The church nave, with its original organ and stained glass windows is an inspirational and atmospheric environment, re-designed to meet the needs of a twenty-first century performance space.
