Partnership opportunities

Lawyers and law firms

From the outset and to this day, pro bono lawyers (solicitors, barristers, and even a judge) have been central to Law Clinic activities. When you partner with the Essex Law Clinic, your expertise is extremely valuable in supporting our students in providing legal advice to clients. This will be in the form of sitting on client interviews, ensuring that students are asking the right questions, and providing assistance and feedback to students where necessary.

In addition to overseeing students, you will also be able to advise clients directly, or by a subsequent letter. You can attend interviews in person at our Law Clinic which is based on the University of Essex campus in Colchester, or through video conferencing.

If you would like to offer your services or learn more about being involved, please email the Acting Clinic Director, Liz Fisher-Frank at elizabeth.fisherfrank@essex.ac.uk.

Local charities, organisations, or educational institutions

The Law Clinic works closely with local charities, organisations, and schools to promote access to justice through the provision of various legal services and forms of public legal education. The ways we can work together vary depending on your needs. For example, we inform community members of their rights and duties via presentations in schools, information sessions, workshops for other agencies, and even local radio. We also provide online resources to assist people to help themselves, help organisations investigate alleged miscarriages of justice and immigration cases, and research new ways of helping the community and changing the law. We also provide training to various organisations to help them understand the law, so that they can better serve your clients. Finally, we run a number of outreach projects in which you might be interested. Take a read of our latest article to find out more about how we can work together.
