Accommodation

Living off campus

Find your new home

The Students’ Union provides a property finding service, SU Homes, which specialises in helping students secure local, private accommodation.

With a range of properties available: including shared houses, resident landlords, family-friendly housing, entire houses, and purpose built student accommodation; there's something for everyone.

SU Homes does not charge administration fees and your deposit is held securely as part of a government-authorised deposit scheme.

All landlords have to check your immigration status giving you the right to rent in the UK before granting a tenancy agreement within private housing.

SU Homes will help you at every stage of the process, from finding the property that will become your home, to signing the contract and moving in.

We are located on Square 3 at our Colchester Campus.

Renters rights

Renters rights regarding living off campus in privately owned accommodation have changed in 2026, so make sure you are aware of the changes and your rights. Further information can be found from Shelter and Citizens Advice.
