Research that improves policy

As part of our work to improve public awareness of our research, our Centre has utilised videos and podcasts to bring discussions about research to the small screen.

Our work so far has involved our podcast Louder than Words, which has three seasons, and our video series Brighter Futures. Through these our researchers have discussed their work on diverse topics such as the impact of citizen science in understanding climate change impact, the role of theatre and literature in Black history awareness, and how individuals and nations can prepare for natural disasters.

Brighter Futures

Brighter Futures is a series of film shorts presented by Jules Pretty.

In each episode Jules and researchers from across the University of Essex discuss how their research is improving policies.

Louder Than Words has been created to show how research can deliver solutions to global problems. It encourages discussions, offers a platform to people making a difference – including our researchers – and aims to explain how you can take action on issues you care about.

Each episode of Louder Than Words will look at a key global issue and give you a chance to hear from leading researchers, policy makers, thinkers and campaigners plus those directly affected by the issue.
