Applying with a group of friends (Essex students)

To book rooms as a group, follow these steps:

  1. Individual applications: The Book Now system works on a first-come, first-served basis, so each of you will need to apply individually from your own device.

  2. Coordinate with your friends: Agree in advance on which flat and rooms each of you will select. When you use the Book Now system, you will be able to see which rooms are available in your preferred flat, so make sure to share this information with each other before booking.

  3. Apply at the same time: Once you all know which rooms you want, go ahead and submit your applications together, at the same time.

  4. Room availability: Keep in mind that other students may also be looking at the same flats and rooms. If someone books a room before you do, that room will no longer be available. In this case, you'll need to choose another room, or as a group, find a different flat with enough rooms for everyone.

SU Advice can offer information about tenant rights and responsibilities, about repairs, repossession, eviction, harassment by landlords, contracts, deposits and much more.

Please do not try and pay your accommodation prepayment now. It will only be required when you complete the booking process. Full instructions on paying your accommodation prepayment will be provided in the offer of accommodation letter.

If you have a debt to the University

Students who have a debt to the university will not have their Book Now allocation confirmed or be made an offer of accommodation until the debt is cleared. You will be notified if this is the case and be given an opportunity to make payment to clear this debt.

If this is not received then we may not be able to confirm your Book Now allocation or proceed with your application.
