Love plants or want to try something new?

Green Fingers is a relaxed indoor gardening group run by Occupational Therapy and Speech & Language Therapy students, under the guidance of our clinical team.

Enjoy tabletop planting, connecting with others, and experience the therapeutic benefits of nature.  As the weather warms in the Spring and Summer months, the group will be able to explore the newly refurbished and fully accessible allotments as part of this programme.

Our first group starts on Wednesday 23 April 2025 and will run for eight consecutive weeks, until 11th June. Sessions are from 1:30 – 3:00 PM and members will book in for the full eight-week course. Sessions are charged £32 for the programme or £4 per session. Payment can be made preferably by contactless payment on arrival at your first session.

We have a small waiting area in the Health, Wellbeing or Care Hub for those relatives or carers choosing to stay on site, or there are some lovely cafes and green space to enjoy on campus while you wait for your loved one.

This group is open to all ages and levels of mobility, the team can accommodate those with accessibility needs. Please note that whilst we have access to accessible toilet facilities, the Hub does not have hoist facilities or a changing plinth.

To access this service, please email healthwellbeingcare@essex.ac.uk and a member of the team will be in touch to discuss your referral.
