I am delighted to let you know that our People Supporting Strategy to 2025 (PSS) has been approved by Council. The PSS has been developed after many conversations with members of our community who have contributed their ideas, experiences, and reflections on how we can continue to work together to strengthen our working environment. I am very grateful to everyone who has joined the discussions and shared their views and I hope that when you read the Supporting Strategy you will see them reflected in its ambition.
There are 5 priority areas grouped as:
Each of them is dependent upon the other but at the core of the PSS is a recognition that as a complex organisation with distributed responsibility, we have to be clear about how our work delivers the University’s mission and vision, without unnecessarily prescriptive management structures or processes. All of us must be able to meet University expectations within the institutional boundaries of trust, confidence, delegation, accountability, responsibility, and continuous improvement.
Creating leading edge practice and responding effectively means operating with the leanest set of policies, procedures, rules and approvals that are consistent with our values, duties and responsibilities, to increase speed and agility and ensure workloads are manageable. This also requires that everyone understands the importance and impact of managing well, whether it is managing people, money, time, or ourselves. The ability to do this is fundamental to agility, productivity, effectiveness and professionalism. As we continue to navigate our way through the COVID-19 pandemic, never has it been more important that we can adapt to thrive in a changing world.
If you have any questions about the ambition set out in the PSS please do get in touch. Delivery will require an evolution of our organisational culture and new ways of working. We will continue to work together to achieve it.
