Education networks and events

There are a range of networking events and opportunities to support your education practice. Find out more about networking, communities of practice and how you can connect with others at Essex and with some of our strategic networks and partners below.

Education Exchange

The Education Exchange is a community of practice that values and supports all educators at Essex. Whether you are teaching or supporting education in other ways, you are an integral part of this network. We encourage you to join us and contribute to the collective knowledge and experience at the University of Essex.

  • Monthly events. These dynamic sessions, held each term, are designed to be interactive and engaging. Whether you choose to attend in person or online, you can look forward to stimulating panel discussions on specific topics, followed by a Q&A session. With two or three events scheduled each term, there's always an opportunity to learn and share. To find upcoming event search the learning event catalogue.

  • A staff-only online discussion forum: Education Exchange forum in Moodle. This area in Moodle provides an easy way for you to share your thoughts, ideas and experiences related to your teaching and learning practice.

Peer Mentoring Database

The Peer Mentoring Database is one of the ways we are strengthening our learning community.

It works in two ways by:

  • offering opportunities for you to informally network with colleagues, from around the University, on a range of topics, interests and specialisms; and
  • providing informal opportunities to ask peers for feedback as you reflect on your academic and professional practice.

How to join

To join the database, please access the Peer Mentoring Database Moodle resource to create your own profile and explore other profiles from other University colleagues.

Good Practice Database

Good practice database. You can share your teaching experience by submitting a case study to our Good Practice Database, which can be found in Moodle. This fully-searchable database contains a plethora of inspirational case studies and is available to all educators at Essex.: Browse all entries | Search | Submit a Case Study
