Voice and performance

Rather than solely relying on a didactic approach to teaching and supporting our learners (simply presenting them with information), we want to ensure there is maximum opportunity for them to make meaningful sense of - and connection to - the learning material, and to genuinely capture their attention.

In striving to heavily engage our learners through a more active and participatory approach, to maximise the clarity of the information we are sharing, and also to continue looking after ourselves when delivering over different periods of time and settings, the use of voice and performance techniques in the context of teaching and learning is therefore vital. Likewise, in considering what is best to implement for the benefit of our learners, ourselves as educators, the learning environment(s) at hand, and other colleagues, there is significant value in identifying currently effective methods and potential new strategies to try.

From the use of technology to offer multiple ways for learners to engage with the learning material, to successfully addressing accessibility needs, to making the best use of the learning environment available, to encouraging your learners to self-reflect on their own learning journey, to varying your own pitch to sustain strong levels of learner involvement, there are many ideas to consider and reflect upon.
