Luggage storage

Central Stores operates a storage facility for students wishing to store luggage.

All items stored by students are kept safely in our secure luggage room and are issued back to students at the end of their storage period.

Costs

The luggage room accepts both boxes and suitcases for storage. All items must be securely packaged in either boxes or suitcases.

The cost for storage begins at 10p per kilo per week but there is a minimum charge of £30 for each box/suitcase that is stored. For clarification on the storage charges please contact Central Stores at stores@essex.ac.uk

Central Stores are operating in a cashless service and can only accept payment via payment cards.

Weighing and packaging your items

Weighing scales are in Central Stores and all items will be weighed at the time of storage. These scales will also be available to students who wish to weigh their items before deciding to store.

Packaging materials such as boxes, packing tape and bubble wrap can be purchased from Central Stores.

How to use the storage facility

Simply pack your belongings into either a cardboard box or a suitcase, write your name and PRID on any boxes or suitcase tags and then bring them to Central Stores (1.403) for storage.

Central Stores are unable to lend trollies out to students looking to transport items, however, vehicles can drive under podia and park outside Central Stores if students wish to drive or taxi with their belongings.

Fridges, beds or furniture into the luggage room are not accepted.  Please do not pack flammable/hazardous products or food products that will spoil into your boxes/suitcases.

Your stored belongings will be held in a safe, secure room but the University accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to property held in storage, however such loss or damage is caused.

• Monday: 9am – 3pm
• Tuesday: 9am – 3pm
• Wednesday: 9am – 3pm
• Thursday: 9am – 3pm
• Friday: 9am – 2pm
