Essex Interns

Essex Interns are exclusive paid internships on-campus and with local employers, offering our students an exciting and supported experience of graduate level work.

Essex Interns now includes all roles and opportunities that were previously known as Frontrunners.

University department internships (previously known as Frontrunners) will continue to be offered as in-person and on-campus, and as one 7.2hr day or two 3.6 hr days over the ten weeks of Spring Term.

Please be aware that all interns need in-person supervision, and they cannot remote or lone work.

Proposals are open for university staff to put forward internship roles they can line manage in Spring term 2025. If you would like to propose a role, please complete the proposal form.

Funding available

Essex Interns can offer funding for 72 hours of internship wage. A host department can also choose to provide additional funded hours to extend the internship.

Additional costs, for example for travel, equipment or training, would need to be provided by the host department.
